Welcome
The Tarentum Homing Club located north of the city of Pittsburgh is one of the few remaining racing pigeon clubs in the Pittsburgh area in a sport that has gradually diminished having had 27 active clubs and more than a thousand flyers in the metro area during the 1960s. Pittsburgh was once a major center and hot bed of racing pigeon enthusiasts.
The club was originally chartered under the Bylaws and Constitution of the American Racing Pigeon Union in 1920 and has the distinction of being one of the oldest original clubs in the AU today. The club had 39 original charter members and was initially identified as the Eagle Homing Club, later changed to the Tarentum Eagles Club and most recently the Tarentum Homing Club. Our goal is to continue to breed and race these beautiful, extremely intelligent birds and improve the awareness and interest in the sport. Inquiries about homing pigeons and our club activities are welcome. |
The Tarentum Homing Club will not provide birds for dog training or pigeon shoots and does not support or condone this activity.
